Tips for making the best watermelon margarita
We have a few extra tips for you to make sure your margarita is the best it can be!
Use fresh watermelon juice
It’s easy to make fresh watermelon juice by cutting up a watermelon into chunks, blending in a juicer and then straining it through a fine mesh sieve. Using fresh juice will ensure that the margarita has a crisp flavor.
Use fresh mint
Just like with using fresh watermelon juice, using fresh mint leaves contrasts perfectly with the sweet flavor, leaving your palate cool.
Use high-quality tequila
No bottom shelf for you, but your taste may vary on what tequila you prefer. For this recipe, we recommend using Casamigos Blanco. But you might also like Don Julio Blanco Tequila, Astral Blanco or other high-quality blanco tequilas, many of which we offer here on The Bar.
Shake well
There are a lot of delicious ingredients in this cocktail. Make sure you vigorously shake it all up for at least 10-15 seconds to fully mix everything.

The history of the margarita
The exact origin of the margarita is unknown, but there are many different theories about how this iconic Mexican cocktail came to be. The first is that it was created by a wealthy socialite in Acapulco, Mexico. In 1948, she mixed tequila, orange liqueur and lime juice to create this unique drink. A competing theory suggests that a Mexican bartender in Tijuana created the margarita in response to a customer who wanted a tequila cocktail that didn’t simply taste like tequila.
Whatever the true story is, the margarita has gone on to become one of the most popular cocktails in the world, synonymous with Mexican cuisine, nights out, parties and pool-side sipping, and it shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.
Stay cool with Casamigos
Casamigos was founded by George Clooney, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman. Born out of a shared love for tequila, Casamigos came to be when these three set out to create a refined, high-quality tequila. Casamigos is the perfect tequila for your watermelon mint margarita recipe, a classic, traditional margarita or a variety of other cocktails.
